Job summary

A transportation logistics company in Houston, Texas is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to repair and maintain tractors and trailers. Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers.
• Perform annual, systematic 90‑day, and HM‑183 inspections on equipment as required.
• Ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards.
• Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and shop as needed.
• Order and receive parts and supplies as needed.
• Adhere to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards, including the handling or disposal of hazardous waste.
• Clean, organize, and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.
• Use welding equipment as required.
• Perform HM‑183 DOT inspections on tankers (P, V, I, K, L, HS, UC) per EPA‑M27.

Required Skills and Experience

• At least 3 years of experience repairing and servicing trailers, hazmat tankers, and medium‑duty trucks.
• Knowledge of vehicle and equipment theory, principles, and repair related to diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• Minimum of 3 years of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules, and regulations experience.
• Ability to use vehicle diagnostic software.
• Minimum of 2 years as a fleet mechanic.
• Minimum of 3 years of DOT HM‑183 certification, training, or experience; ASE certification not required but recommended.
• High school diploma or GED required.
