Job summary

The Weldship Group is seeking a Trailer Mechanic to fabricate and repair chassis/tube mounting vehicles. You will work in a team to weld, braze, torch cut, drill, and saw as required, following safety guidelines and established maintenance procedures.

Responsibilities include installing tires, bearings, seals, suspension, air brake, and electrical systems; maintaining clean workspaces; coordinating with coworkers to ensure smooth workflow; and supporting other areas of the facility as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Maintain low or nonexistent inventories of parts.
• Follow established maintenance procedures for equipment being used.
• Communicate with fellow workers to ensure smooth workflow.
• Return company tools to their designated location upon completion and maintain good housekeeping habits.
• Ability to install tires, bearings, and seals, suspension, air brake systems, and electrical systems while maintaining good teambuilding skills.
• Fitting, fabrication work, plumbing skills, mechanical skills.
• Notifies the supervisor of all deviations as incurred.
• Work in other areas of the facility at the direction of the area supervisor efficiently and effectively while maintaining good teambuilding skills.
• Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Summary of the Position

This position is responsible for the creation and/or re-fabrication of the vehicle upon which the tubes are mounted. This includes skids, saddles, containers, and mobile chassis, etc. All areas of performing fabrication work are included within this position such as welding, brazing, torch cutting, drilling, sawing, etc. Large sections of metal are used in the performance of this function therefore it is necessary to work in a team environment to complete the assigned task.
