Job summary

South Suburban Parks and Recreation seeks a Maintenance Technician - Trails to perform skilled maintenance on trails, parking lots, bridges and drainage systems. The role requires working weekends/evenings as needed and may include snow watch.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and relevant experience in park maintenance. Responsibilities include inspecting infrastructure, performing repairs, operating heavy equipment, and maintaining accurate maintenance records.

Qualifications

• Must be eighteen years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of skilled labor and operation related to park and trail maintenance or light civil construction in the public sector.
• Combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of trail users and maintain facilities to established standards.
• Inspect trails, drainage, bridges, parking lots, and shelters.
• Maintain trails and parking lots including sweeping, pot hole repair, snow/ice removal, cleaning, and graffiti removal.
• Operate and maintain tools and district vehicles safely.
• Document daily maintenance activities and report findings.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; work reliably and punctually.
