TAPCO is seeking a Traffic Systems Technician in Appleton, WI to maintain, install, and troubleshoot Intelligent Transportation Systems including signals, dynamic signs, cameras, and network gear. You will collaborate with contractors, train users, and perform regular maintenance on ITS infrastructure.
The ideal candidate has electronics/ networking background, fiber optics experience, and willingness to travel. A background in AC/DC systems and IP networks is preferred.

Sign Bonus:
Sign-on bonuses are paid in installments: (a) $1,000 after successful completion of 90 days of continuous employment; (b) remaining balance after successful completion of 180 days. Employment must be active and in good standing on payout dates.

What you will accomplish as an Traffic Systems Technician at TAPCO:
We are seeking a skilled ITS Technician to join our team responsible for the maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of Intelligent Transportation Systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and reliability of traffic management systems, including traffic signals, dynamic message signs, cameras, network equipment and other ITS infrastructure. This position will work with contractors to install new devices, train users how to operate them, as well as perform periodic maintenance of all types of Intelligent Transportation Systems and TAPCO Made products. A background in computers and networking, AC/DC electrical systems and fiber optics is preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform installation, maintenance, and repairs to a wide variety of electronic, computer, communication, network and other systems.
Safely operate related tools and equipment.
Operate related computer systems and software.
Provide technical phone support to customers, contractors, distributors and TAPCO employees.
Troubleshoot and repair equipment including diagnosing electronic failures to the board level.
Maintain accurate records and prepare field reports.
Communicate effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, contractors, and customers.
Implement and manage software and firmware changes. Installing new software and hardware onto various devices such as PCs and proprietary hardware. Familiarity with configuration and operation of software programs that control products serviced by TAPCO.
