Job summary

TAPCO is seeking a Traffic Systems Technician in Appleton, WI to maintain, install, and troubleshoot Intelligent Transportation Systems including signals, dynamic signs, cameras, and network gear. You will collaborate with contractors, train users, and perform regular maintenance on ITS infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has electronics/ networking background, fiber optics experience, and willingness to travel. A background in AC/DC systems and IP networks is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in electronics, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
• Two years of industry experience in field service and troubleshooting.
• Good working knowledge of electronics, electromechanical and electrical power principles (DC/AC).
• PC literacy: Windows OS, Office, file transfer, software installation, email & time sheets.
• Proficient with configuring equipment, including IP network components.
• Fiber optic networking experience: splicing, termination, testing.
• Proficient with hand and power tools; ability to work on ladders; operate a bucket truck; outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair a variety of electronic, computer, network and related systems.
• Safely operate tools and equipment.
• Operate computer systems and software.
• Provide technical phone support to customers, contractors, distributors and TAPCO staff.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment to board level.
• Maintain accurate field records and reports.
• Communicate effectively with team, contractors, and customers.
• Manage software/firmware changes and install new software/hardware on devices.
