Job summary

City of Auburn (AL) seeks a Traffic Systems Technician to install, maintain, and repair traffic control systems, reporting to the Traffic Engineering Manager. You will supervise staff, oversee contractor work, and ensure safety and compliance with standards.

The role requires a HS diploma or equivalent, 2–3 years electrical experience, IMSA Level 1 certification within a year, and a valid Class B CDL. On-call rotation may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) to three (3) years’ experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possession of IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level 1 Certification within one year of employment.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Class B Commercial driver’s license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• Two (2) to three (3) years of electrical experience
• Ability to serve in the on-call rotation.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for performing technical duties in the installation, repair, operation, and maintenance of traffic control systems. This position reports to the Traffic Engineering Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) to three (3) years’ experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Qualifications:

• Possession of or ability to obtain International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal Technician Level 1 Certification within one year of employment.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Class B Commercial driver’s license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Requirement exists at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment.
• Two (2) to three (3) years of electrical experience
• Ability to serve in the on-call rotation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
