Job summary

City of Malden Police Department, Traffic Commission seeks a part-time Traffic Supervisor (Crossing Guard) to ensure safe pedestrian crossings near schools. The role covers about 10 hours per week with varied scheduling and a mandatory commitment to safety protocols.

The crossing guard will monitor crosswalks, advise pedestrians and drivers, and report any issues to the Traffic Commission. A CORI background check and pre-employment drug screening are required; bilingual skills are a plus.

PART-TIME TRAFFIC SUPERVISOR (CROSSING GUARD)

POLICE DEPARTMENT, TRAFFIC COMMISSION

Work Hours: 10 hours/week. Varied, as needed.

Hourly Wage: $25.00

Primary Duties

Provide safe crossing at crosswalks, as assigned, for pedestrians and students walking to and from school.

Qualifications

Ability to remain in designated area for 1 hour intervals with or without accommodation to monitor and ensure traffic flow in all directions while providing safe crossing at busy intersections throughout the City of Malden.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to provide direction to both pedestrians and drivers. Bilingual skills preferred but not required.

Eligible applicants must have a clean criminal record. Selected candidates will need to submit to a Criminal Offenders Records Information report (CORI) background check and pre-employment drug screening.
