The City of Hampton is seeking a skilled traffic maintenance professional to perform hands-on work involving traffic signs, barriers, and guardrails to keep roadways safe and functional for the community. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in traffic operations, be comfortable with hand tools, and able to work with the public and other team members.

The role may require nights, weekends, and emergency calls, reflecting the city's commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Strong experience in traffic operations is required; thermo-plastic markings experience preferred; knowledge of hand tools, carpentry, mechanics or painting.
• Must obtain IMSA Signs and Marking certification within 1 year; work zone certification within 6 months.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
• Virginia CDL Class B within 180 days of employment.
• Safety sensitive position; DOT substance abuse testing applies.
• Background check required prior to offer.
