Job summary

City of Mesquite is seeking a seasoned supervisor to lead the Signal and Sign Shop and the Street Lighting shop within the Traffic Engineering Division. You will plan, coordinate, and oversee maintenance, installation, and upgrades of traffic control devices, reporting to the Director of Public Works.

Responsibilities include budgeting, contractor coordination, and cross-department collaboration with outside agencies and the public.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent required.
• Ten (10) years of related work experience may substitute for the degree.
• Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in maintaining and repairing traffic signals and signs, with supervisory or lead responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise and coordinate the activities and operations of the Signal and Sign Shop and Street Lighting shop within the Traffic Engineering Division.
• Coordinate activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the public; supervise staff and provide staff assistance to the Director.
• Develop and administer budgets; forecast funds for staffing, equipment, and supplies; monitor expenditures and approve adjustments.
• Coordinate with outside contractors; ensure compliance with plans, specs and guidelines; oversee speed trailer and sign programs.
