Job summary

The City of Charlotte is seeking a skilled Traffic Signals Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair traffic control devices across the transportation network. Responsibilities include maintaining signal controllers, cameras, and related equipment, diagnosing malfunctions, and logging work in CityWorks.

A strong safety mindset and teamwork are essential for this role. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, IMSA Signals Level I

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; valid driver's license or ability to obtain City driving permit.
• IMSA Signals Level I or higher certification required or within one year.
• Ability to obtain Class B CDL within 12 months.
• Experience with traffic signal equipment maintenance and field repairs.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair traffic control devices across the city's network.
• Maintain camera and signal systems; diagnose malfunctions at intersections.
• Record maintenance activities and generate reports in CityWorks.
• Set up temporary traffic control devices per MUTCD and safety guidelines.
• Participate in rotating on-call for after-hours emergencies; assist training.
