Job summary

North Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking an Electronics Technician I to install, repair, and maintain traffic control electronics in Division 7. The role requires wiring signals, detectors, and controllers, with attention to safety and accuracy in documentation.

Qualifications

Knowledge of standard test equipment used to diagnose electronic components.
Experience reading and understanding schematic drawings and wiring diagrams.
Knowledge of the National Electric Code.
Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and carry out work assignments effectively with minimal technical supervision.
Experience performing manual and physical labor in varied environmental conditions.

Responsibilities

Install, repair, and maintain electrical/electronic equipment with emphasis on traffic control equipment and related devices.
Install traffic signal equipment, wire detectors, and controllers.
Trace wiring diagrams to locate trouble and replace worn parts.
Dismantle and reassemble components; maintain accurate records of time and materials.
Maintain proper records of all signal work and time/materials via computer.
