Join to apply for the Traffic Signal Technician 3 role at Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller.
Performs technical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex traffic signal systems, arterial street lighting, and control equipment. Leads and directs traffic signalization projects and the inspection, maintenance, and repair of traffic signal systems and components. Provides training and oversight to Level 1 & 2 signal technicians.
Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM
What Would You Do?
- Lead installation, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, programming, and fabrication of all traffic signal devices following MUTCD, State, and County standards.
- Train and mentor Level 1 & 2 Traffic Signal Technicians.
- Perform construction inspection for new signal projects to ensure quality and compliance.
- Complete daily reports on field activities, calls, work orders, and service requests using the computer system.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, engineering plans, GIS maps, and manuals.
- Set up work zones according to MUTCD, State, and County standards.
- Identify and report visibility obstructions that pose traffic hazards.
- Maintain stock levels and inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Perform pre-work vehicle and equipment inspections.
- Report potential hazards, issues, citizen inquiries, and work activities to supervisors.
- Follow safety and departmental policies.
- Assist with sign fabrication, installation, and maintenance, and support traffic control for special events if needed.
- Perform emergency on-call duties as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What Do You Need To Have?
- A High School Diploma or GED and four years of experience in traffic signal work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Requirements
- Florida Driver’s License and ability to obtain a Class-B CDL within 6 months.
- Possession or ability to obtain IMSA Traffic Signal Level III Certification within 6 months.
- Availability for various work schedules, including emergency and disaster situations.
