Job summary

Chapel On The Hill is seeking an engineer to operate and optimize the town's traffic signal system. You will manage the TMC, monitor CCTV feeds, and adjust signal timing using Centracs to ensure smooth traffic flow in the town.

Responsibilities include analyzing traffic data, maintaining timing plans, coordinating revisions with NCDOT/consultants, and supporting special events with data and camera access as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in operating traffic signal systems and timing adjustments.
• Ability to analyze traffic patterns and adjust signal timing accordingly.
• Familiarity with coordinating with multiple stakeholders and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Manages the Traffic Management Center (TMC) and oversees CCTV and traffic signal operation using Centracs.
• Manages servers for remote access to VMS boards, cameras, and the traffic signal system.
• Designs and implements messages on Von VMS boards citywide.
• Analyzes traffic signal reports and detection failures; ensure controller data matches Centracs database.
• Inputs timing plans in signal cabinets; maintains accurate signal plans.
• Reviews traffic patterns and documents data; prepares or tunes signal timing plans.
• Coordinates timing plan revisions from NCDOT, consultants, or supervisor.
• Diagnoses repairs with supervisor or technicians; referral to contractors as needed.
• Notifies supervisor about signal-related emergencies and adjustments of timing.
• Implements timing plans for special events; generates data for maintenance invoices.
• Attends meetings with stakeholders; shares camera views via Teams on request.
• Be present at TMC during special events and adverse weather.
• Retrieves timing data for legal requests when needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
