Job summary

City of Corpus Christi is seeking a Traffic Technician to maintain and repair traffic signal and street lighting systems under supervision. The role requires reading engineering plans and NEC codes, and performing preventive maintenance.

The technician will operate equipment, install fiber/copper cables, and assist in programming signal controllers. On-call responsibilities apply during storms and emergencies; a high school diploma and related experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• 6 months to 1 year of experience in construction, electronics maintenance, or traffic signal-related role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain traffic signal and street lighting equipment by reviewing engineering plans, blueprints, profiles, work orders, and schematics.
• Operate field equipment including bucket truck, digger derrick, and various tools.
• Install fiber optic/copper cables and integrate with signal/traffic systems.
• Assist in inspection and preventive maintenance of traffic signals and street lighting.
• Read schematics, blueprints, diagrams, manuals, and NEC codes for inspections and maintenance.
• Prepare reports and logs, document repairs and inspections for supervisors.
