The City of Arlington seeks a skilled Traffic Signal Technician to perform maintenance and repairs on traffic control equipment, ensuring safe and efficient traffic flow. Responsibilities include responding to trouble calls, repairing circuits, and documenting work.

You will read engineering drawings, install pedestrian signals, adjust timing, perform preventive maintenance, and operate related vehicles. Requires lifting up to 75 pounds, outdoor work, and pre-employment screenings.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic electrical and electronic theories.
• Knowledge of TxDOT safety rules and guidelines.
• Knowledge of TMUTCD (Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) and TEEX guidelines.
• Knowledge of IMSA guidelines for construction, installation, repair, and modification of traffic signal systems.
• Knowledge of and ability to use common tools in mechanical work.
• Knowledge of departmental SOPs, JSA's and MSDs.
• Knowledge of the use of meters, scopes, and other test equipment.
• Ability to maintain Confined Space Certification Training and act as Competent Person.

Responsabilités

• Respond to trouble calls on signalized devices and repair faulty circuits.
• Maintain electronic and electrical systems for traffic controllers and related infrastructure.
• Interpret engineering drawings for signal construction and modifications.
• Perform preventative maintenance using meters and laptops to adjust timing programs.
• Operate trucks and equipment for emergency operations and road maintenance.
• Cover after-hours signal issues and comply with applicable rules and regulations.
