Job summary

The City of Pharr is seeking a Full-Time Traffic Safety Technician to maintain and improve traffic safety on its roadways. This onsite role involves troubleshooting traffic signals, inspecting control devices, repairing signs, and maintaining pavement markings to ensure clear communication to drivers.

As a key member of the team, you will perform minor electrical work, assist with device installation, and support the continuous safety improvements of city infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the Texas Municipal Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
• Awareness of hazards and safety precautions.
• Knowledge of electrical systems.
• Knowledge of street marking machines and equipment.
• Knowledge of circuit boards, processor chips, and electronic equipment including hardware/software and programming.
• General traffic control maintenance of signals and devices.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot malfunctions in traffic signals and conduct inspections of traffic control devices.
• Repair, clean, and replace traffic control signs and strip pavement markings for clear driver communication.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on electronic traffic signal devices; replace bulbs and lubricate components; set points and timing for control boxes.
• Assist with installation of traffic signal devices and perform minor electrical work to support traffic management.
