The City of Sioux Falls is seeking a motivated Traffic Signal Technician to join the Traffic Division. You will install, maintain, and repair traffic signals, signs, and related infrastructure to improve safety and efficiency of our roadway system.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and hands-on problem solving in all weather conditions. Responsibilities include troubleshooting signal operations, programming controllers, handling communications and fiber optics, and supporting field crews.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; plus 2-year trade school in electrical theory/electronics and 2 years’ experience installing, repairing, maintaining traffic control devices.
• Combination of education, experience and training acceptable to hiring authority.

Responsabilités

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair traffic signal devices and related systems.
• Program signal controllers and diagnose communications, detection, and camera system issues.
• Terminate fiber and copper cables; locate/mark underground facilities; monitor 811 tickets.
• Provide power to intersections during outages; operate equipment and update work orders.
• Oversee assistants, provide instruction, complete online training, and document activities.
• Perform snow/ice control and assist mechanics as needed.
• Read and interpret schematics, diagrams and manuals.
