Job summary

The City of Oxnard's Public Works Department, Traffic Engineering Division, is seeking a Traffic Signal Repairer to install, inspect, test and repair traffic signal equipment to ensure proper timing and operations. You will also perform preventive maintenance and light repairs on signal systems, poles and related infrastructure.

The role requires four years of related experience, a valid CA driver’s license, and strong English communication skills; standard work hours apply with on-call

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience related to traffic signal repair or other electrical repair work.
• A valid California Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record may be required for some positions.
• Must be able to communicate in English effectively, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, test, and repair electrical and electronic signal control equipment to ensure correct timing and operations; make adjustments and repairs as needed.
• Install, replace, and repair electrical control devices and damaged poles.
• Maintain and repair traffic signals.
• Perform preventive maintenance on traffic signal control equipment and related systems, including painting and cleaning of equipment.
• Install and modify pull boxes and conduits.
• Replace lamps in traffic signal heads and streetlights.
• Repair damaged and malfunctioning signal and safety lighting equipment.
