Job summary

The City of Hampton is seeking a Traffic Signal Electronic Technician II to train others and perform highly skilled electronic and electrical work on traffic signal control equipment. The class works under general supervision, but determines how and when to complete tasks.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED with electronics-related college coursework, five years of related experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain a CDL Class B within 180 days.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED with electronics coursework or college equivalent.
Five years of related experience in installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of traffic signal electronics.
Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain CDL Class B within 180 days.
IMSA II Signal certification within 18 months of hire; Work Zone certification within 6 months of hire.
Background check required; position is safety sensitive and may require testing.

Responsibilities

Train others and perform highly skilled electronic/electrical work on traffic signal control equipment.
Install and troubleshoot various traffic signal control components.
Work under general supervision while determining how and when tasks are completed.
