Korman Signs is seeking a Traffic Sign Fabricator to join our production team in Richmond, Virginia. This hands‑on manufacturing role involves fabricating, applying, and assembling traffic signs, including large interstate and overhead guide signs used nationwide.

You will work with various materials and equipment, learn multiple parts of the process, and collaborate with an experienced team to produce high‑quality signs efficiently and safely.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Sign fabrication: process and assemble layouts for signs using shears, presses, and CNC routing equipment.
• Apply vinyl film and reflective sheeting to sign blanks.
• Assemble signs with bracing and hardware.
• Fabricate sign blanks from aluminum, plastic, and composite sheets.
• Flame-treat plastic substrates for reflective sheeting.
• Load/unload signs and secure for transport.
• Take accurate measurements and follow production instructions.
• Safely operate forklifts and cranes; keep a clean work area.
• Assist with producing smaller signs and other production tasks.

Job description

Korman Signs is seeking a Traffic Sign Fabricator to join our production team. This is a hands‑on manufacturing position involved in the fabrication, application, and assembly of traffic signs, including large interstate and overhead guide signs used on roadways across the country.

In this role, you will work with a variety of materials, tools, and equipment to produce signs according to customer specifications and quality standards. You will have the opportunity to learn multiple parts of the sign manufacturing process while working alongside an experienced production team.

For more than 50 years, Korman Signs has manufactured traffic signs and work zone safety products at our Richmond, Virginia facility. Our manufacturing operation includes a wide range of equipment, including shears, saws, punch and turret presses, CNC routing equipment, forklifts, cranes, and other specialized machinery.

Responsibilities

• Sign Fabrication: Process and assemble tiled layouts for traffic signs and large interstate guide signs using shears, saws, punch presses, turret presses, and CNC routing equipment.
• Material Application: Lay out and apply pressure‑sensitive vinyl film and reflective sheeting to aluminum, plastic, and composite sign blanks.
• Sign Assembly: Lift and position sign blanks on application tables to apply sign faces, legends, and reflective sheeting; assemble completed signs with bracing and hardware.
• Material Preparation: Fabricate sign blanks from larger sheets of aluminum, plastic, and composite material, including cutting, adding corner radiuses, punching holes, and deburring as required.
• Specialty Processing: Flame‑treat plastic substrates as required for the application of reflective sheeting to products such as barricades and signal backplates.
• Material Handling: Load and unload signs from storage racks and delivery trailers and properly secure signs for transportation.
• Quality Control: Take accurate measurements and follow work orders, drawings, and production instructions to ensure signs are fabricated correctly.
• Equipment and Work Area: Safely operate assigned equipment, including forklifts and cranes, and maintain an orderly work area.
• Cross‑Training: Assist with the application and production of smaller traffic signs and other production work as needed.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is dependable, mechanically inclined, attentive to detail, and comfortable working in a hands‑on manufacturing environment.

• Previous manufacturing or production experience is preferred.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a production environment.
• Good hand‑eye coordination for application, fabrication, and assembly work.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Ability to read and follow work orders and production instructions.
• Good mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
• Willingness to ask questions and learn new equipment and processes.
• Ability to work well with others as part of a production team.
• Dependable attendance and a consistent approach to quality and safety.
• Ability to lift and handle sign materials weighing up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently reach, bend, stoop, and kneel while processing sign materials.
• Ability to climb trailer rungs and work at elevated heights when loading and securing signs.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.

This is an on‑site position at our Richmond, Virginia manufacturing facility.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly wage range of $18–$22 per hour, based on experience.
