Job summary

Louisville Metro Government is seeking an Engineering Technician to support public works projects, roads, bridges, drainage and capital improvements. The position focuses on delivering engineering technical support from design through construction, ensuring adherence to standards and safety.

The role works under general supervision, developing work methods and sequences, and collaborates with engineers, inspectors and the public to move projects forward efficiently.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate's degree and two years of engineering technician, surveying, computer mapping or engineering plans review experience.
• Equivalency: an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Compiles data, performs research and completes special projects.
• Reviews subdivision and site development plans and issues encroachment permits.
• Performs basic traffic engineering and erosion control studies, elevation work and field measurements.
• Calculates cost estimates and prepares construction specifications.
• Visits construction sites to monitor surveying activities and grading.
• Provides information to engineers, other government agencies and the public concerning project status.

Education

Associate's Degree in Construction Technology, Engineering Technology, Drafting and Design Technology, Business or Public Administration or related discipline

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be substituted
