Job summary

Commonwealth of Kentucky seeks a Transportation Engineer II to oversee roadway projects and provide engineering judgement on design and construction issues. The role is based at 8310 Westport Road, Louisville, and supports the Transportation Cabinet and Department of Highways in Kentucky.

The position requires licensure as a Professional Engineer with two years of additional engineering experience; a Kentucky license or eligibility to obtain one within six months is expected.

Qualifications

• Must have two years of engineering experience in addition to that required for licensure as a professional engineer.
• Master's degree in engineering may substitute for one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Manages and oversees activities of engineering projects with multiple phases.
• Provides engineering judgement to evaluate and resolve design, maintenance, and construction problems.
• Reviews and applies cabinet policy and standards along with industry guidance.
• Interprets project plans and contract documents for various entities (contractors, property owners etc.).
• Travels throughout an assigned area and state to address or confer technical or operational issues.
