Job summary

EXP's Infrastructure & Transportation Practice in Tampa, FL is seeking a Traffic Project Manager to lead roadway projects through design and delivery. You will manage traffic engineering studies, coordinate with DOTs, MPOs and local agencies, and supervise project teams.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in Civil Engineering, 5+ years in traffic projects, and Florida licensure (EIT or PE). Strong communication and BD skills are a plus as EXP grows its traffic design capabilities.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering from an Accredited University.
  • 5+ years leading traffic projects for DOTs, MPOs, and local governments.
  • EIT or PE licensure in Florida.
  • Familiarity with FDOT and local agency standards and policies.
  • Experience with ITS and tolling systems design preferred.
  • Participation in BD strategies encouraged.
  • Team leadership and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop traffic studies, safety analyses, and traffic signal timing plans.
  • Lead intersection and interchange design studies and traffic control plans.
  • Prepare and review reports, schematics, plans, specs and estimates.
  • Coordinate with staff across practices to deliver projects.
  • Engage in industry groups to grow EXP’s visibility in Traffic Engineering.

Your work environment at EXP

EXP's Infrastructure & Transportation Practice provides comprehensive planning, design and construction engineering services for all types of roadway, bridge, water resource, rail, transit and aviation projects. We are currently looking to grow and enhance our traffic engineering capabilities and are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Traffic Engineer to lead projects based from EXP's Tampa, Florida office.

What a day at EXP has in store for you
  • Develop traffic and safety studies including traffic impact analyses, traffic forecasting, traffic signal timing plans, and perform macro and micro simulation modeling.
  • Prepare intersection and interchange design studies.
  • Develop and review traffic control plans and work zone staging plans.
  • Prepare and review traffic signal design plans, signing plans, and pavement marking plans
  • Prepare and review engineering reports, schematics, plans, specifications and estimates
  • Work with other staff and other practices groups, as necessary, to execute project delivery
  • Participate in industry professional groups and development activities to grow EXP’s brand and visibility within the Traffic Engineering and community.
What your experience looks like
  • BS in Civil Engineering from an Accredited University.
  • 5+ years of experience required which must include experience leading traffic projects for DOTs, MPOs, and local governments.
  • EIT or PE in the State of Florida
  • Familiarity with industry standards and State and local authorities including FDOT and local agency objectives, standards and specifications.
  • Experience with ITS and tolling systems design preferred.
  • Participate in Business Development strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, project management experience desirable but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Active Industry participation in professional societies at local and State level a plus.
  • Familiarity and proficiency in FDOT permitting and traffic policies.
