Creighton Manning, a GAI company, seeks an motivated intern to support transportation planning and design projects in New York. You will collect field data, assist senior planners and engineers, and contribute to drawings, reports, and visual aids under supervision.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s in civil engineering or planning, with strong organizational skills and proficiency in Word, Excel, Teams, AutoCAD, GIS, and Adobe Creative Suite.

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering or planning from ABET/EAC-accredited program or approved equivalent.
• Self-motivated and strong work ethic.
• Strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Word, Excel, Teams, Synchro, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign) encouraged.

About This Position:

Interns evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional types of plans, development of planning studies or reports, investigations, or surveys with relatively few complex features under the general guidance of a Project Planner/Engineer or Project Manager. This work is on small projects or portions of larger projects. Typical projects include transit, highway, traffic signal, bridge design, long range transportation planning, traffic impact studies and transit planning.

Essential Job Functions:

• Data collection in the field
• Perform specific portions of a broader assignment, assisting an experienced planner/engineer
• Perform standard computations or basic analysis
• Prepare drawings, sketches, and visual aids
• Assist in maintaining equipment inventory
• Perform design tasks
• Perform quantity estimates
• Attend project meetings with senior staff
• Responsible for writing report sections
• Responsible for basic QA/QC tasks; review of own work
• Assists at various meetings including public and client meetings

Job Requirements:

Working towards a bachelor's or master's degree in related discipline such as civil engineering or planning from an ABET/EAC accredited program or an approved equivalent. Self-motivated and strong work ethic. Strong organizational skills required; ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Experience with Word, Excel, Teams, Synchro, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign) encouraged.

Pay Range:

Albany, Poughkeepsie, Syracuse, White Plains, NY: $21.80/hour-$28/hour

Pay will be based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and position location.
