Job summary

Creighton Manning Engineering & Surveying in New York is seeking interns to assist with planning and transportation projects under the guidance of experienced engineers and planners.

You will collect field data, perform portions of assignments, prepare drawings and reports, attend project meetings, and contribute to QA/QC. Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering or planning is required, with proficiency in Word, Excel, Teams, AutoCAD, GIS and related tools encouraged.

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering or planning from ABET/EAC accredited program or equivalent.
• Self-motivated with strong work ethic.
• Strong organizational skills; able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Word, Excel, Teams, Synchro, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and Adobe Suite encouraged.

Job description

Interns evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional types of plans, development of planning studies or reports, investigations, or surveys with relatively few complex features under the general guidance of a Project Planner/Engineer or Project Manager. This work is on small projects or portions of larger projects. Typical projects include transit, highway, traffic signal, bridge design, long range transportation planning, traffic impact studies and transit planning.

Essential Job Functions:

• Data collection in the field
• Perform specific portions of a broader assignment, assisting an experienced planner/engineer
• Perform standard computations or basic analysis
• Prepare drawings, sketches, and visual aids
• Assist in maintaining equipment inventory
• Attend project meetings with senior staff
• Responsible for writing report sections
• Responsible for basic QA/QC tasks; review of own work
• Assists at various meetings including public and client meetings

Job Requirements:

Working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in related discipline such as civil engineering or planning from an ABET/EAC accredited program or an approved equivalent. Self-motivated and strong work ethic. Strong organizational skills required; ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.Experience with Word, Excel, Teams, Synchro, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign) encouraged.

Pay Range:

Albany, Poughkeepsie, Syracuse, White Plains, NY: $21.80/hour-$28/hour

Pay will be based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and position location.
