Job summary

Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is seeking a senior engineer to drive innovation in real-time arterial operations and ITS deployment across the regional transportation network.

You will lead the ITS Operations Branch, oversee the TMC and signal maintenance, manage large projects, and coordinate budgets and contracts while pursuing federal funding opportunities to support modernization.

Qualifications

• Five years of engineering experience with ITS and supervisory responsibility.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; postgraduate degrees may substitute.
• Postgraduate degrees or professional-level experience may substitute for education or experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Oversee ITS Operations Branch, including the TMC and Signal Maintenance groups; hire, train, and evaluate staff.
• Manage large ITS projects from inception to completion for arterial operations and mobility.
• Coordinate budget preparation, manage contracts/payments and procurement.
• Lead ITS operations strategies, including ICM and advanced signal timing.
• Develop inter-jurisdictional collaboration to improve signal integration on regional corridors.
