Job summary

The Town of Mount Pleasant seeks an experienced transportation engineering professional to lead its traffic and transportation operations. The Traffic Operations Engineer manages the Town’s traffic signal system, transportation studies, infrastructure programs, and assigned capital projects while supervising professional and technical staff.

You will work with Town leadership, elected officials, residents, developers, consultants, contractors, and partner agencies to improve transportation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and five years of transportation or traffic engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Professional Engineer license
• Professional Traffic Operations Engineer certification, or ability to obtain within two years
• Road Safety Professional Level 1 certification, or ability to obtain within two years
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Lead traffic and transportation operations and manage the Town’s traffic signal system
• Oversee transportation studies, infrastructure programs and capital projects
• Supervise professional and technical staff
• Collaborate with Town leadership, officials, residents, developers, consultants, contractors and partner agencies
• Present to the Transportation Committee and Town Council
