Traffic Management Center Supervisor

Kapsch TrafficCom seeks a proactive and skilled individual to join our Traffic Management Center (TMC) operations team as a full-time TMC Shift Supervisor at the St. Louis Gateway Guide TMC, located in Chesterfield, MO (14301 S. Outer Forty Rd., Chesterfield, MO). This leadership role is vital for ensuring smooth traffic management operations to enhance safety and mobility.

Position Overview

The TMC Shift Supervisor oversees daily operations, manages TMC staff, and ensures compliance with procedures. Candidates should have experience in traffic management, incident response, or related fields, with strong leadership and communication skills. Experience in traffic management is preferred but not mandatory; proven supervisory experience and ability to learn TMC software quickly are essential. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds such as law enforcement, dispatching, traffic engineering, or supervisory roles in tech or process-driven environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise TMC operators, providing guidance and performance feedback.
• Ensure compliance with Traffic Incident Management (TIM) procedures, coordinating with partners and responders.
• Oversee traffic monitoring, incident detection, and response using advanced software and surveillance tools.
• Prepare reports and analyze performance to identify improvements.
• Create and deliver training and documentation for TMC staff.
• Act decisively during emergencies to ensure safety and efficient incident handling.
• Communicate professionally with internal teams, external partners, and the public.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in traffic management, public safety, dispatch, or leadership roles.
• Understanding of traffic systems, software, and incident management principles.
• Leadership skills to foster collaboration and operational excellence.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making under pressure.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.

Schedule

The Gateway Guide TMC operates 24/7/365. This position works the PM shift (1:00 PM – 10:30 PM) on a 4-day-per-week, 10-hour-per-day schedule.
