Job summary

H&H, a leading infrastructure engineering firm, seeks a Traffic Group Manager to oversee traffic engineering, transportation planning, and mobility projects across the New York Metropolitan Area.

The role leads multidisciplinary teams, mentors staff, ensures conformance with MUTCD, HCM, and AASHTO, and collaborates with clients and agency partners to deliver high-quality studies and designs.

Qualifications

• PE license required in New York.
• Minimum of ten years of experience in traffic engineering, analysis and planning.
• Experience managing transportation projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with NYSDOT, NYCDOT and local design standards.
• Proficiency with MicroStation, Bentley InRoads, Civil 3D and traffic software.
• Strong knowledge of traffic operations, safety and multimodal systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; collaborate with leadership and stakeholders.
• Active participation in professional organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and staff resource management for traffic engineering projects across the New York Metropolitan Area.
• Perform intersection and roadway capacity analyses using HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and SimTraffic.
• Lead the preparation of traffic impact studies, planning studies, and operational analyses.
• Direct analysis and design of signalized and unsignalized intersections, roundabouts, interchanges, and roadway geometrics.
• Oversee traffic signal design, timing analysis, signing and striping plans, and maintenance of traffic strategies.
• Lead traffic calming, bicycle and pedestrian safety studies, parking studies, and multimodal initiatives.
• Support intermodal mobility hubs and transit station improvements.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, and agency stakeholders; mentor junior staff.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality; ensure compliance with MUTCD, HCM, AASHTO.
• Assist with business development, proposals, and client relationships.
