Job summary

GBA Companies’ Civil Engineering Intern - Traffic will join our Transportation market in Lenexa, KS or Chesterfield, MO this summer. You will work with Civil3D, AutoCAD and MicroStation alongside experienced engineers, gaining hands-on exposure to traffic designs and inspections.

You'll assist with bridge design, traffic signal layouts, traffic studies, and data analyses while receiving mentorship and opportunities for rotation across projects.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS or MS in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel preferred.
• 2.7 GPA strongly preferred.
• Finished at least two years of school.
• Prior internship or related experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design and 3D modeling of bridges.
• Support quality control processes and follow client design standards.
• Assist with design calculations and geometric layout.
• Help prepare plan quantities and cost estimates.
• Participate in field assignments such as construction inspections.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplined design team.
• Engage in an active learning environment with mentorship from experienced engineers.
• Assist in the layout and design of traffic signals, roadway lighting, pavement markings, and signing.
• Analyze traffic operations to determine levels of service.
• Review crash data to identify correctable patterns.
• Perform traffic volume analysis and forecasting.
• Prepare Traffic Impact Study (TIS) and Traffic Design Study documents.
• Use traffic simulation modeling tools to generate operational data and graphics.
• Other duties as assigned.
