Job summary

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking a Traffic Engineer for its Engineering/Architecture Design Division at 4WTC in Manhattan. You will perform transportation planning and traffic engineering work for redevelopment, capital projects, operating and major capital programs, collaborating with PA staff and consultants.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in Traffic Engineering incl. planning studies, design, ITS, and pavement marking.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver's license; EIT and MUTCD/AASHTO knowledge are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare contract drawings, specs and cost estimates; prepare Traffic Management plans and MOT documents; audit traffic engineering designs by consultants.
• Apply knowledge of traffic design concepts for facilities, updates to ITS and traffic signals, signing systems and striping plans.
• Apply knowledge of traffic operations concepts to evaluate control, capacity, and countermeasures.
• Apply knowledge of transportation planning concepts for data collection, capacity analysis, geometric design, forecasting, modeling, and trip assignment.
• Apply knowledge of traffic safety concepts to prepare safety studies and sketches.
• Develop, review, and manage traffic-related scopes of work, budgets, and schedules.
• Develop and maintain records of project agreements, finances, reports, and documents.
