Burgess & Niple, Inc. is seeking a Traffic Engineer Co-op in the Phoenix area.

You will work with experienced staff to gain hands-on experience in traffic design, modeling, and safety analyses, supporting projects for state DOTs and local jurisdictions. The role emphasizes learning design analysis, data collection, and interdisciplinary collaboration while developing technical skills in MicroStation, AutoCAD Civil3D, and related tools.

Qualifications

• Current undergraduate student pursuing a BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Strong interest in traffic engineering; prior co-ops are a plus.
• Experience with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and PDF markup tools.

Responsibilities

• Learn design analysis skills for traffic engineering projects for state DOTs and municipalities.
• Assist with capacity, safety analyses, data collection, signing, and signal design tasks.
• Support report development and scoping, construction plans, and cost estimates using design tools.
