Job summary

SRF Consulting Group, Inc. in Chicago, IL seeks a full-time Traffic Engineer to support a variety of transportation, traffic, and ITS projects in a hybrid work model. You will contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of electrical infrastructure and transportation technology initiatives.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in traffic engineering, strong communication, and the ability to lead projects while mentoring staff; IL PE license or goal to obtain within 6 months is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering, traffic/transportation engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in traffic engineering, ITS, and/or transportation technology.
• Illinois PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Valid driver’s license with travel to work sites and meetings as needed.
• Ability to lead projects, manage technical tasks, and mentor staff.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and technical writing skills.
• Experience with PS&E is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and develop engineering staff to support growth of the group.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external clients across multiple disciplines.
• Develop project deliverables including reports, plans, specifications, estimates, and utility coordination documentation.
• Potentially work as an extension of agency staff on on-call contracts.
• Develop transportation designs from conceptual to final, including signing, markings, staging, detours, intersection evaluations, and TM plans.
