Job summary

Georgia Department of Transportation in Georgia seeks an ETP122, Traffic Engineer 3 (M) to perform engineering assignments in traffic planning and ITS projects. Under general supervision, you will support safety analyses, develop designs and reports with data-driven methods.

The role requires knowledge of traffic engineering, data analysis, and ability to coordinate with districts and stakeholders. The position offers a competitive salary of $82,500 annually and is an internal/external GDOT

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent.
• Valid State of Georgia EIT certification or PE license with six months of job-related experience.
• For international degrees, a GDOT-approved credential evaluation is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform data-driven safety screenings and traffic engineering studies.
• Coordinate with districts, local agencies, and stakeholders to identify safety needs and improvements.
• Assist in managing a state safety design contract, coordinating with districts, offices, consultants; QA/QC of consultant work.
• Develop and maintain policies, guidelines, procedures, and technical resources.
• Perform analyses, design concepts, plans, and calculations for compliance with standards.
• Evaluate safety issues using performance measures and benefit-cost analyses.
• Provide technical assistance and promote roadway safety practices across the Department.
• Expand knowledge through continuing education and professional development.
