Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in traffic or transportation engineering is required.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
• Proficiency with traffic engineering design tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation).
• Familiarity with MUTCD, AASHTO, and MDOT/VDOT standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct traffic engineering analyses including signal warrants, traffic impact studies, and corridor safety assessments.
• Perform capacity and level-of-service evaluations using industry-standard software.
• Prepare traffic control device designs including signals, signing, and striping; develop plans and cost estimates.
