Job summary

HDR is seeking a Traffic Engineer in Houston, TX to lead complex traffic projects, perform analyses, and develop signal plans. You will apply design judgment, supervise a small team, and collaborate with peers on mid-size projects, ensuring safety and quality in all deliverables.

The role requires a PE license and 5+ years’ experience in traffic engineering, with CAD and traffic modeling tools. HDR values inclusion and employee ownership across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and PE license required.
• Experience with traffic analysis and traffic engineering/design.
• Hands-on CAD experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD, Guide Sign.
• Experience with analysis tools: HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, Aimsun.
• Experience with safety software such as Highway Safety Software.
• Proficiency with MS Office; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex traffic engineering projects and prepare PS and E documents.
• Make design and engineering procedure decisions as needed.
• Serve as technical specialist or project manager on mid-size projects.
• Supervise small staff of professionals and technicians as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.
