Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Traffic Project Manager to lead transportation planning, traffic engineering analyses, and safety projects in the Dallas area.

You will develop traffic studies, plan and review traffic control plans, and collaborate with clients and subconsultants to maintain schedules and budgets. The role requires experience with TxDOT projects, proficiency in Synchro and VISSIM for signal timing and interchanges, and PE and RSP certifications.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering with relevant traffic engineering experience.
  • PE licensure is required.
  • RSP certification is required.
  • Experience with TxDOT projects and safety analysis tools is required.
  • Strong coordination with agencies, subconsultants, and clients is needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop traffic studies including impact analyses, corridor and access studies, and safety analyses.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and estimates for signing, striping, signals, illumination, and ITS.
  • Coordinate with subconsultants and clients to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Support and advise junior engineers and staff; participate in project reviews and quality plans.

Job description

Primary Responsibilities

HDR's Traffic Project Manager will: serve as a project manager or task leader for transportation planning, traffic engineering analysis, safety analysis and project development; develop traffic studies including traffic impact analyses, corridor studies, access management studies, historic/predictive safety analysis, traffic signal timing plans, microscopic simulation modeling, and macroscopic simulation modeling; prepare plans, specifications, and estimates documents including signing and striping, traffic signals, illumination, and Intelligent Traffic Systems for various state and local agencies; prepare or review scopes, budgets, and schedules; write reports and technical memorandums; coordinate with subconsultants and clients to keep projects on schedule and within budget; work closely with the Area Manager, Transportation Business Group Manager, Transportation Program Manager, Section Managers, and multiple Project Managers for project reviews; implement project quality plans; and support and advise junior engineers and technical staff as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • A Master's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 4 years of experience in traffic engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 6 years of experience in traffic engineering.
  • Required experience must include experience in: Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) projects; traffic safety analysis using IHSDM, ISATE, HSS, and TxDOT tools; coordination with TxDOT Safety Division for approvals on safety analysis; working with National Safety experts on State Department of Transportation projects; design and implementation of Data Driven Safety Analyses; Safe System Approach, Vision Zero Action Plans, Crash Modification Factors, FHWA Proven Safety Countermeasures, and Systemic Safety; signal warrant analysis, intersection analysis, corridor studies, traffic impact studies; utilizing Synchro for signal timing optimizations and implementations; utilizing VISSIM for calibration and coding for interstates, highways and innovative intersections; utilizing MS Excel and Python for data analysis; ArcGIS Pro; Highway Capacity Software (HCS); SIDRA Intersection; OpenRoads; GEOPAK; and MicroStation.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required.
  • Road Safety Professional (RSP) certification required.
