Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) is seeking a full-time Traffic Engineer for our Connecticut operations. The role offers the chance to impact mobility on public and private development projects across the state, applying transportation solutions that benefit communities and quality of life.

You will work with a multi-disciplinary team, mentor junior staff, and contribute to reports. A BS in Civil Engineering and 7+ years of traffic engineering is preferred; PE, PTOE, or RSP are a plus.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering with a focus on Traffic/Transportation.
  • 7+ years of traffic engineering experience; PE preferred (CT). PTOE and RSP are a plus.
  • Experience with drafting, traffic analysis and simulation programs; knowledge of VISSIM and SIDRA is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Thorough understanding of current traffic engineering standards and practices.
  • Working knowledge of drafting, traffic analysis and simulation programs (Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, AUTOCAD). Knowledge of VISSIM and SIDRA is a plus.
  • Good writing skills with the ability to prepare reports and memorandums.
  • Interest in learning and growing as a professional while mentoring younger staff to strengthen the team; attendance at industry events and networking.

Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • BS in Civil Engineering required with a focus on Traffic/Transportation preferred
  • 7+ years of traffic engineering experience preferred. All levels of experience will be consideredPE is required (CT preferred), and PTOE, and RSP are plusses.
  • Experience developing conceptual intersection/corridor options is a plus
  • Interest and experience in working on complete streets projects is a plus
  • Experience with urban design and current design practices for multi-modal accommodation is a plus
  • Experience working on CTDOT projects is a plus
Requirements
  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
