Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) seeks an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Engineer to join our Bridgewater, NJ office.

You will design, plan, develop, integrate, and deliver technology within complex transportation environments while supporting employee satisfaction and diversity initiatives. The ideal candidate has a BS in Civil/Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field, 5+ years ITS design experience, and familiarity with MicroStation/AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Civil, Electrical, Computer Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
• 5+ years of ITS design and systems engineering experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of ITS and Systems Engineering for Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), incident management systems, traffic management systems, traffic information systems, and other ITS components, including dynamic / variable message signs, CCTV surveillance systems, traffic detection, and connected vehicles.
• Perform all aspects of communications design including fiber optic, telco, and wireless.
• Understanding of network security / design and controls systems design
• Complete site visits, evaluate and analyze existing systems
• Develop SERF and ConOps reports and plans based on project analyses and assessments
• Attend project meetings / perform project coordination

• Previous NJDOT ITS design experience preferred
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred5 plus years of ITS design and Systems Engineering experience
• Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD is a plus
• Excellent communication and writing skills

Requirements MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
• Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
• Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
• Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19\" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
• Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
