Job summary

LVI Associates, a national engineering consulting firm with a strong NC presence, is seeking a Traffic Engineer to support roadway, ITS, and traffic signal projects across North Carolina. The Traffic Engineer will contribute to plan development, signal timing analyses, and coordination with clients and agencies, with a hybrid work arrangement and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of traffic/transportation engineering or ITS/traffic signal design experience.
  • EIT certification or PE license.
  • Experience with traffic signal/ITS design plans.
  • Familiarity with NCDOT standards and project delivery processes.
  • Proficient in design/analysis software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, Synchro, VISSIM.

Responsibilities

  • Develop traffic engineering designs for transportation improvement projects.
  • Prepare traffic signal plans, ITS designs, signing and pavement marking plans, and related construction documents.
  • Support traffic operations analyses, signal timing evaluations, and traffic impact studies.
  • Coordinate with project managers, clients, local agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Assist with delivery of NCDOT and municipal transportation projects from concept through construction.
  • Perform quality control reviews and ensure compliance with standards.

Salary: USD100000 - USD135000 per annum

Backed by a strong project backlog and continued investment in transportation infrastructure, the firm is seeking a Traffic Engineer to support a diverse portfolio of roadway, ITS, and traffic signal projects throughout North Carolina. The Traffic Engineer will be responsible for:
  • Developing traffic engineering designs for transportation improvement projects.
  • Preparing traffic signal plans, ITS designs, signing and pavement marking plans, and related construction documents.
  • Supporting traffic operations analyses, signal timing evaluations, and traffic impact studies.
  • Coordinating with project managers, clients, local agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Assisting with the delivery of NCDOT and municipal transportation projects from concept through construction.
  • Performing quality control reviews and ensuring designs comply with applicable standards and specifications.
  • Contributing to project schedules, budgets, and successful project execution.
The Traffic Engineer should have the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of traffic engineering, transportation engineering, ITS, or traffic signal design experience.
  • EIT certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience preparing traffic signal and/or ITS design plans.
  • Familiarity with NCDOT standards, specifications, and project delivery processes.
  • Proficiency with design and analysis software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, Synchro, VISSIM, or similar tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
