Job summary

Summit Design and Engineering Services in Hillsborough, NC, is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to lead and assist in the development of traffic signal designs, ITS, and broadband fiber designs for NCDOT and municipal projects. Knowledge of NCDOT standards and MUTCD protocols is essential, with responsibilities including field investigations and coordination with public agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) or Civil Engineering Technology (BSCET).
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressive design experience in transportation design.
• Familiarity with Microstation, Open Roads, Geopack, and Corridor Modeling.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required in NC or the ability to obtain within six (6) months from date of hire; registration in other states is favorable.
• NCDOT & VDOT design experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of traffic engineering disciplines such as TIA/capacity analysis, signal system timing plans, pavement marking, and signing.
• Excellent communication skills, proactive attitude, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Experience in client development and project management.
• Experience in general project development workflow.
• Strong engineering analysis and judgment.
• Ability to adhere to project budgets and schedules.
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive.
