Traffic Design Engineer - PE

Description

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, self-motivated Traffic Design Engineer who thrives on hands‑on design, problem‑solving, and collaboration within DRMP’s growing Tampa team. The position offers meaningful growth opportunities across a diverse portfolio of projects, including highway and interchange design, roadway widenings, and intersection improvements—featuring both conventional and innovative intersection solutions.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include
  • Experience with Signing and Pavement Marking Plans, Signalization, Lighting and ITS plans design
  • Assists Group Leader with the marketing, preparation of scope of services and fee estimation for potential projects.
  • Collaborate with clients, subconsultant partners, technical staff, and managers across multiple disciplines to develop quality deliverables within schedule and budgetary requirements
  • Direct and mentor less‑experienced support staff
  • Conduct engineering investigations and planning work by completing well‑defined tasks including collection and analysis of data; perform routine calculations, and participate in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions
What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Must have Florida PE license.
  • 1-5 years of experience (post‑registration experience).
  • Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history required.
  • Management duties include budgeting, scheduling, job tracking, client interaction, and staff management.
  • Outstanding communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to forge strong relationships with clients, professionals, and your team members.
  • DOT experience with ITS, signal design, signing and marking design, and lighting.
  • Proficient in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD); Auto CADD experience is a plus
