Job summary

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is recruiting a Transportation Planner/Analyst Trainee as an underfill for a Transportation Planner/Analyst I in the Traffic Information Division in Carson City, NV. The position collects, processes, and analyzes the short-term and automatic traffic recorder data in accordance with FHWA regulations and maintains the Jackalope database and site files.

Under close supervision, incumbents receive training and may progress to the Transportation

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or four years of experience collecting, compiling, analyzing and reviewing data and developing reports (from ad).
Experience with transportation data analysis and planning studies is implied by duties.
Ability to communicate findings and coordinate with multiple divisions.

Responsibilities

Collect, process and analyze short-term and automatic traffic recorder data per FHWA regulations.
Maintain the Jackalope database and site files.
Coordinate with Traffic Information Division sections to identify sensor needs.
Review plan sets and coordinate sensor placement on contracts/projects.
Provide management oversight for consultants and assist public and private entities with funds.
Oversee installation/operation of equipment collecting field data.
Prepare reports and recommendations from transportation studies.
