Job summary

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is seeking a Transportation Planner/Analyst 1 in Carson City, NV to collect, process and analyze traffic data per FHWA regulations. The role maintains the Jackalope database, responds to information requests, coordinates sensor needs with divisions, and reviews plan sets for sensor placement on contracts/projects.

Requires a Bachelor's degree and one year of professional transportation experience, with on-site work and no visa sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, planning, math, geography, economics, statistics or related field and one year of professional experience in transportation analysis, planning or research; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Participate in development of studies, reports, or long-range and short-range planning documents concerning transportation systems using state-of-the-art computerized systems.
• Knowledge of grant processes or programs and ability to communicate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide management oversight for consultants and service providers and assistance to public/private entities in applying for State/federal funds; monitor recipient performance and review financial reports.
• Oversee installation and/or operation of equipment collecting field data such as traffic speed, volume, system characteristics, and GPS.
• Conduct transportation system, traffic engineering, safety, and planning studies; compile and analyze data; prepare reports and recommendations.
• Coordinate and/or conduct training sessions for department staff on equipment usage and procedures.
• Provide information and outreach to the public and governmental agencies about transportation matters through training, newsletters, meetings, and reports.
• Coordinate statewide, regional and local needs in multimodal areas: aviation, bicycles, freight, motorists, pedestrians, rail and transit modes.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
