Job summary

WSDOT in Washington state is seeking an experienced Assistant Corridor Operations Engineer (TE3) to analyze real-time traffic data, coordinate with state patrol, field crews, and partner agencies to manage incidents and traffic flow.

The role focuses on traffic signals, ramp meters, ATM, VMS, shoulder lanes, and incident response, with opportunities to lead planning, develop response plans, and support regional transportation operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering and/or EIT certification.
• Ability to apply civil engineering principles to transportation projects.
• Experience with traffic operations, system modifications, and algorithm changes.

Responsibilities

• Analyze Real Time Transportation System Performance of Regional Arterial and Highway Systems.
• Plan, implement, and direct system modifications to mitigate impacts due to incidents or events.
• Adjust ramp meters and traffic signal phasing and timing.
• Direct use of VMS, ATM and lane control signage for operational needs.
• Collaborate with local and bi-state agencies on incident response plans.
