Job summary

WD Wright Contracting in Columbus, Indiana is seeking a Traffic Controller for an entry-level role. The position starts at $15/hour with on-the-job training, weekly pay, and overtime opportunities. No experience is required to begin, and you will join construction teams to ensure safe, clear traffic flow around worksites.

You will learn to set up and manage temporary work zones, operate signs and cones, and uphold ATSSA/DOT safety standards while complying with company policies.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Must have a smartphone with internet access for timekeeping and communication to receive work schedule.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Be able to work in all weather conditions and tolerate varying climates of heat, cold, and rain.
• Pass a drug screen prior to employment and maintain a drug free status.
• Be able to stand throughout your entire shift, hand and arm movement is required.
• The position does not allow for frequent breaks.
• Be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Be physically capable of performing all flagging duties.
• Have reliable transportation to and from job sites. All employees are permitted to drive their own vehicles to the job site or assigned meeting location. Driving of, or riding with, crew members to and from the job site or assigned meeting location, whether in a personal or company vehicle, is voluntary carpooling for the convenience of the employees.

Responsibilities

• Setup, maintain, and remove temporary work zones including warning signs, traffic cones, and rumble strips according to ATSSA and DOT regulations
• Load and unload work zone equipment to and from the company vehicle at the job site
• Complete and submit all necessary paperwork in a timely manner before leaving the last job site
• Wear and maintain proper PPE in accordance with Wright specific policy
• Ensure that company vehicles are kept clean and orderly and inform management of any safety concerns or vehicle problems
• Review start time and address of job site or meeting location (if applicable) as established and sent by office scheduler via company app
• Read and understand Wright safety manual and employee handbook
• Reports directly to a Field Supervisor
• Other job duties as assigned
