Job summary

SR 400 Constructors in Atlanta is seeking a traffic control assistant to set up and maintain devices (cones, signs, barricades) in work zones and direct vehicles and pedestrians safely.

You will monitor traffic flow, communicate clearly with drivers, and coordinate with crews and law enforcement to ensure safety. Training and ongoing safety development are provided.

Daily duties include reporting to the Foreman with time logs, truck numbers, and checklists, while following all regulations.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain traffic control devices (cones, signs, barricades) to redirect traffic.
• Direct traffic with hand signals, flags, or approved methods for safe passage.
• Monitor traffic flow and adjust measures to maintain safe patterns.
• Provide clear instructions to drivers to navigate the work zone.
• Coordinate with crews, law enforcement, and others to ensure safety; provide ongoing safety training.
• Report incidents or unsafe conditions to authorities or supervisors.
• Assist with maintenance of traffic control devices as needed.
• Follow safety regulations to minimize risk of accidents.
• Maintain professional, courteous conduct when engaging with the public.
• Attend training and stay up-to-date with traffic control regulations.
• Report daily to the Foreman with paperwork (truck numbers, times in/out, checklists).

Principal/Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Setting up and maintaining traffic control devices such as cones, signs, barricades, and flagging materials to redirect traffic.
• Directing traffic using hand signals, flags, or other approved methods to ensure the safe passage of vehicles and pedestrians.
• Monitoring traffic flow and adjusting traffic control measures as necessary to maintain a smooth and safe traffic pattern.
• Providing clear and concise instructions to drivers to navigate through the work zone and avoid potential hazards.
• Communicating with construction crews, law enforcement, and other personnel to coordinate traffic control efforts and ensure everyone's safety. Provide ongoing safety, productivity, and professional growth training.
• Reporting any traffic incidents, accidents, or unsafe conditions to appropriate authorities or supervisors.
• Assisting with the maintenance and repair of traffic control devices when needed.
• Following all applicable safety regulations and guidelines to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries.
• Maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with the public, answering questions, and addressing concerns.
• Attending training sessions and staying up-to-date with the latest traffic control techniques and regulations.
• Report on daily base to the Forman with all the paperwork required (trucks number, time in and out, check list ….)
