Job summary

Whitaker Construction is seeking a Traffic Control Maintainer to direct and divert traffic around active work zones, ensuring safety for workers and the traveling public. You will install devices, coordinate layout, and monitor traffic conditions while traveling between sites across Utah and surrounding areas.

The role requires DOT/MUTCD knowledge, ability to read plans, and a valid Class A CDL. Prior traffic control experience is preferred, with certification to be obtained if not already held.

Qualifications

• Must have or be willing to obtain UDOT/ATSSA TCT Certification.
• Must possess a Class A CDL; valid license and reliable transportation.
• At least 18 years old; previous traffic control experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED preferred; related credentials encouraged.
• Ability to work outdoors near traffic and heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret DOT MUTCD-related plans.
• Set up and maintain traffic control devices and detour signage.
• Direct traffic using hand signals and flagging.
• Complete paperwork and time sheets accurately.
• Travel between job sites as projects progress.
• Inspect equipment prior to use.
• Report unsafe conditions to supervisors.
