Job summary

RoadSafe Traffic Systems in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Traffic Control Technician II to set up and take down lane closures, redirect traffic for workers, and maintain safety on highway projects. You will operate company trucks, transport equipment, and support a traffic control crew, often working independently.

The role requires 1–3 years of experience, the ability to pass background and DOT checks, and willingness to travel statewide with possible overnight stays.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required.
• 1–3 years of traffic control experience and 2,000 field hours.
• Must pass background check and motor vehicle records.
• Must pass drug test and meet DOT requirements.
• Wear safety equipment (boots, hard hat, glasses, vest).
• Able to read and write for road signs and forms.
• Able to read plans and ensure traffic control plans are implemented.
• Knowledge of state/local roadways and operating delivery vehicles.
• Able to lift up to 70 pounds.
• Must complete ATSSA TCT intermediate training.
• Travel statewide with overnight stays; may work nights/weekends.
• Available for rotating on-call schedule.
• Mechanical background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks to transport materials and equipment to job sites.
• Transport MOT and TMA vehicles to projects and sites.
• Place temporary signs and traffic safety devices in work areas.
• Set up arrow boards and variable message boards in work zones.
• Monitor the work zone and maintain equipment and signs.
• Load and unload traffic control items at shift start/end.
• Install, remove, and reset delineators, signs, posts, and supports.
• Perform shop maintenance on equipment.
• Follow safety rules and company policies.
• Willingness to travel statewide with overnight stays.
• Work nights and weekends as required; rotating on-call.
• Assist with additional duties as assigned.
