Job summary

RoadSafe Traffic Systems in North Charleston, SC is hiring a Traffic Control Technician II to set up and take down lane closures and ensure worker safety on highway projects. You may operate MOT and TMA vehicles, place signs, and manage traffic devices while traveling statewide as needed.

The role requires 1–3 years in traffic control, a valid driver's license, and ability to pass DOT and background checks; occasional overnight stays and a rotating on-call schedule are possible.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of traffic control experience.
• 2,000 field hours in traffic control.
• Pass background and motor vehicle records checks.
• Pass drug test and meet federal DOT requirements.
• Read plans and implement traffic control plans.
• Willingness to travel statewide; occasional overnight stays.
• Able to lift up to 70 pounds.
• ATSSA TCT intermediate training (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job sites.
• Drive MOT vehicle to and from projects and on work sites.
• Drive TMA vehicle to and from projects and on work sites.
• Place temporary construction signs in work areas.
• Position arrow boards or variable message boards in work areas.
• Set up traffic cones and other traffic safety devices in work areas.
• Monitor the work zone throughout the shift to ensure items remain in their proper locations.
• Collect and load traffic control items at the beginning and end of shifts.
• Install, remove, and reset delineators, signs, posts, and supports.
• Perform shop work, including general maintenance and repair of equipment.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe work environment.
• Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
